Route music to different speakers.

Question

Hi everyone, i have an HTPC, i was wondering if i can play music in other parts of the house. For example place sets of speakers in the living room, the dining room, etc. The choose through the computer where i want to play the music. Is there any way to do this? right now all i have connected is the 5.1 speakers in the tv room.

It is possible, but there are many, many questions to ask before the proper determination can be made.  If you have a separate receiver in each room, you could probably connect them to an AirPort via the optical connection and control it with your computer.  If you have a large budget you could purchase a complete, integrated multi-room system, but those are quite expensive.

Are you wanting the option of playing the same music throughout the house or different music simultaneously through one source?
