Question:

Router Radiation?

I have a linksys WRTG56 router sitting in my room. It's working both wirelessly and with USB. It's almost half a meter from me when I'm working on the computer and about 1.5 meters from me when I'm sleeping.

I came across an article in the newspaper today about radiations and it said that routers have a lot of non-ionising radiation coming out of them standing on 100w/m.

It sounds weird to me that my router can have so much radiation so this is why I'm asking this:

Do routers really have radiation?

If so, is it dangerous to me and I should move the router as far away from me as possible? Or is there some distance where it won't effect me?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Well all wireless routers will have radiation! That is how they work, they transmit MICROWAVEs! There is no wireless router made that can work without radiating a signal.  The good news is that the signals they radiate are at very low levels, in fact a very small fraction of the radiation that we get from CELL phones!

Here is a very good article on it

    http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/200...

It has links to all the studies etc.

The risk and radiation is extremely small.  As long as you are two or three feet of more from the router you really have no issues. I would suggest you don't hold the router to your head, at least not for long lengths of time!  I would also suggest that the PRESS try and get the real information before they publish concepts that have no support from real data!

Hope that helps.  But the cell phone you use has much more radiation than a router!

  2. I dont think so routers have hazardous radiation, but infact serach  in the internet, you will get the details
