Router and Reinstalling Windows Question...?

I am planning on reinstalling Windows XP and reformatting the hard drive on my desktop PC. Is the wireless router dependent on the desktop computer being up? In other words will the wireless signal be down while I reinstall windows on the desktop PC?? I have a laptop accessing the wireless. So will I be able to access the internet through it during this "downtime"?

Wireless devices and routers do not have anything to do with the computers attached to them. They are, in essence, little mini-computers that live on their own. So to answer your question, you will not need to do anything special to the router because you're reinstalling Windows.

You will also have Internet access during that time on any other computer connected to the router.
