Router settings for xbox live.?

Question

I currently have my xbox 360 hooked up to my wireless router via ethernet cable.

I play mostly gears of war, i dont encounter much bullet lag, but its a bit jumpy and jolty. Like when i am running its not continuous. I cannot remember having the promblem with my old speedtouch 330 usb modem.Can i optimise the settings for xbox live on my router?

I have a d-link 320t modem to a d-link dir-655

Make sure the ports in the knowledgebase article below are open on your router.
