Router with a desktop and laptop?

I plan on getting a laptop soon and right now I have 2 computers netoworked together, there hardwired not wireless. I would like the laptop I get to be wireless to get on the net. Would I need to buy a new router? also what would I need to buy for the laptop?

  1. That depends on what kind of router you have.  Check to see if the one you have supports wireless or not.  If it does it will have antennas on it.  Otherwise you will need a new router or an access point hooked into your router.  I would suggest a new router as access points can be a pain sometimes and a bit more work to install.  Also if you live close to neighbors or where lots of people are around you will want to look into security that you set up through the router so no one can steal your internet or see whats on your pc's.


  2. You can buy router or access point but the router will be ideal. You dont need to buy anything for the laptop because these days it comes everything fro the laptop wirelessly.

  3. You shouldn't have to buy a new router. Just get an internet card or an adapter that is compatable with your laptop and your current router.
