Rowan, boy or girls name?

What do you all think, does it sound like a boys name, girls name, or a unisex name?

It is a girls name in this day and age.  Brooke Shields has a daughter named Rowan.

You could totally go both ways with that name! I really like it. It doesn't sound too girly if given to a boy and it sounds powerful and unique if given to a girl.

Now, that said ... when I hear the name I tend to automatically assume the masculine case, largely due to the fact that the only Rowan I know is a man, combined with my love of the masculine (irish) name Ronan.

It's a unisex name

I would not use if for a girl,  it was rank 450 out of the top 1000 girls name last year.

It was rank 366 out of the top 1000 boys names last year

It not to common in one s*x.  It's good for both

If you like Rowan, then go for it

Rowan Williams is the current Archbishop of Canterbury.

It's unisex, I looked it up on Babynamesworld.com. I think that it's a really cute name for a girl mainly because Brooke Shields daughter is named Rowan.
