Rowan Ridge likely to surprise his opponents in Halnaker Gentleman Amateur Riders´ Handicap
Rowan Ridge might prove to be the surprise of the day in the Halnaker Gentleman Amateur Riders´ Handicap at Goodwood in England on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. He is considered to be an underdog today, but has the ability to give a tough time to his opponents
in the class-5 race.
None of the participants will have any issues with the going, which has been described as good by the organisers. Despite the normal conditions, the competition will not be a straight forward one in the end.
Almost all of the contestants have been struggling for consistency, which will make things quite uncertain at the end of the day. Anyone who displays good stamina in the 1 mile 3 furlong event will manage to win the cash prize of £2,496.
However, it is hard for the punters to predict whether which runner has the ability to take the top spot at Goodwood today. Although, they have got a couple of good options, yet they will have to be extremely careful while placing their bets.
Taroum and Swift Blade are in pretty good shape at the moment, thus they will be the ones to watch out for. Both did a decent job in their most recent outings, therefore, they will be full of confidence at the moment.
Despite that, there performances have not been good enough to put them in a commanding position, thus they will have to fight their way to the top. They will definitely face a fierce competition from some of the other participants, who will be looking to
grab the opportunity of winning a race at this level.
One of them will be Rowan Ridge, who has been priced 14 to 1 by the bookmakers. He might not have a very good record, but that does not matter much, as he has been delivering some decent results in the ongoing season.
The four-year-old gelding has got a poor strike rate, winning just a couple of races out of 21 attempts. However, he is very young and has the ability to improve his overall record.
In 2012, the William Knight’s trainee has appeared in three races and finished as a runner up in all of them. He will be looking to go one step further and take the top spot at Goodwood today under Mr D. H. Dunsdon.
