Roy Halladay ends his spring season with a win - MLB update
Roy Halladay threw his last game of the spring season in the Philadelphia Phillies 6-1 victory over Atlanta Braves on Sunday. He pitched three solid innings with two hits, struck out three hitters in his three innings and walked one. The winner of last
years Cy Young award is expected to play his first regular season game on Friday against the Houston Astros.
"I feel good. I feel ready," the right-hander said. "I think that today more than anything was about trying to keep things going and get out of here feeling good. I'm happy with where everything is right now and I'm anxious to get going," he said.
Michael Schwimer followed Halladay with ‘one run’ two innings. Jordan Rosenberg replaced Michael Scwimer in the sixth inning and threw two scoreless innings with only one hit. Jose Contreras, who is scheduled to play as a closer in the regular season in
the absence of injured Brad Lidge, pitched a perfect eighth inning.
Atlanta’s starting pitcher Kenshin Kawakami went for three runs including a solo homer by Raul Ibanez. Carlos Martinez gave away three run in the fifth innings in three hits including a two run shot by Ryan Howard. James Chapman , Eric O’Flaherty and Craig
kimbrel pitched the remaining innings of the game without any further damage to the Braves.
Ryan Howard was the pick of the hitters for Phillies who gave Phillies two important runs with his homer. Shane Victornio scored two run while Ben Francisco, Raul Ibanez and Luis Castillo scored one run each. For Braves, only Chipper Jones could only complete
his run.

Raul Ibanez blasted an opposite field solo homer during the top of the third, giving the Phillies an early three-run advantage.
Micael Scwimer gave the only run To Braves in the bottom of the fourth inning when Eric Hinske hit a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing home Chipper Jones.
Ryan Howard blasted a two-run shot over the left-field wall, increasing the Phillies' lead to four in the top of the fifth inning.
Ben Francisco lined an RBI double to left field in the top of the fifth inning, increasing the Phillies' lead to five.
Team News:
Phillies will play their next and the final game of the grapefruit league against Houston Astros on Monday. Phillies’ new acquisition Cliff Lee had a below par spring to his usual standards with 4.74 ERA in his five starts. He will not play the Phillies’
next game against Astros and instead he will practice pitching in a Minor League game.
