Roy Halladay leads Philadelphia Phillies to 6-2 win against Cincinnati Reds - MLB Update

Starter Roy Halladay restricts batters as he lifts the Philadelphia Phillies to a 6-2 victory against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati, Ohio on September 5, 2012 in the last match of the three game series.
Reds were pushed back from the very beginning as Philadelphia scored six runs in a span of three innings. Backed by the support from the starter, Phillies cruised to an easy win on Wednesday.
Halladay completed little more than seven innings and gave up just one run. The bulk of the damage to Cincinnati‘s quest for a win was done by him.
Other than Halladay, Phillies were helped by their relievers that did not let the momentum slip away. They finished scoreless innings and disallowed Reds from bouncing back late in the game and run away with the victory.
Offensively the second baseman Chase Utley stood up for Philadelphia as he struck a home-run adding two runs on the scoreboard. Catcher Erik Kratz continues his amazing run of form as he hammered a three-run homer on Wednesday. He has been lifting the team
offensively ever since the Phillies’ All-star catcher Carlos Ruiz is out.
Phillies’ manager Charlie Manuel comments on the home-run smacked by Utley. It was the culmination of series of hits he has been trying in the last many games which were unfortunately ending up being caught.
"Chase finally got one out to center," Manuel said. "His power is still there. He's been hitting into tough luck. It seems like every time he hits the ball hard someone catches it."
Talking about Kratz, Manuel draws similarities between him and Babe Ruth. Kratz steered Philadelphia on course in the match and after his home-run the team’s victory was almost established.
"Kratz got us on the board," Manuel said. "We talk about run production. He keeps hitting home runs. He might be Babe Ruth."
The game saw most of the Phillies’ players stepping up and trying hard to win. The fighting spirit shown by the batters spells positives for their upcoming games in the season.
They will be high on confidence at the moment and will be looking to build a winning streak from now onward.
