Roy Halladay losses control but exhibit skills in Philadelphia Phillies defeat - MLB Update
Excluding the walks Roy Halladay allowed, he was not far from his best in the game he turned out the loser actually. While the loss was accorded to him, it can easily mask poor outing the rest of the players had.
Two scores he gave up were not the kind of worst performance, the fact hitters were hopelessly poor he was destined to fail in his quest.
Before the start of the season he was upbeat, though little humble at his sides’ prospects deep inside, he was ready to lift the Phillies on his own. He was confident that at-least their rotation will give them an edge in the season.
What has happened so far is however not a fraction of what he hoped for. He did help his side win a couple of games by the dint of his incredible pitching repertoire, eventually it was all-round performance of the team that was to matter the most.
In the game against San Diego Padres, Halladay looked a bit off-colour. Credit to him however even when he was put-under pressure number of times in the game he pulled out successfully from there.
With bases loaded and the hitters high on confidence, he will be smart enough to leave them tricked even then.
Notwithstanding the role of offence in the defeat, Halladay will be little low on confidence.
Phillies are growing impatient with the kind of performance they are putting up after every game.
Fully aware of how the poor offence is affecting performance of even the great players in the team, Jimmy Rollins has confirmed the kind of pessimism prevailing in the club.
“There’s frustration,” Jimmy Rollins said. “You look around the dugout sometimes and, ‘Jeez, what’s going on?’ We’re in an area right now where there are no answers. I really don’t have an answer.”
The kind of player he is, one can believe that he will restore his best soon. The fact hitters are not likely to support him much is something he may be tracing reasons for his possible failures. It will be interesting to see how Halladay manages to build
up some confidence and put some decent performances in the next few games for the Phillies.
