Roy Halladay suffers mild groin injury in win over the Giants
It’s recently been revealed that Philadelphia Phillies’ Roy Halladay has suffered a mild groin pull. The Phillies manager, Charlie Manuel announced the news that the ace suffered the pull during the second innings in his winning performance against the San
Francisco Giants in the 5th game of the National League Championship. The news comes as a shock to most fans who would love to see their star pitcher perform in the next competitive outing he is scheduled to feature in, if the team makes it through
to the World Series tournament.
If the Phillies manage to push their current series into game 7, they may as well make it to the World Series. If that does happen, Halladay can come in on game 1 of the next stage. Knowing Roy, that will most likely be the case, given his ability to perform
in the big matches.
Halladay was acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League, last year and since that he has been performing well for Philadelphia. His regular season performance was staggering and leading up to the playoffs; the big ace man collected 21 wins
in his featured games, making him the top ball thrower in the league. Roy ranks 2nd for strike outs and walks & hits per innings. The strong man pitched 9 complete games and leaded the ranks for complete games as well.
His first game in the playoff displayed a stunning performance that guided the Phillies to a win over the Cincinnati Reds, in style. The ball thrower conceded nothing and shut the side out with 8 strike outs in a completed game exhibition. However, since
the first game the ace pitcher has lost the rhythm and has conceded runs in the next two games. He lost the first game against the San Francisco Giants, allowing 4 runs off 8 hits.
However, Thursday game, presented Halladay with a chance to redeem himself and he did exactly that by allowing just 2 runs off 6 hits in 6 innings. This pushes the Phillies to 2 wins in the NLCs and gives them a chance to push the series to game 7.
