Roy Halladay talks about the upcoming season
Roy Halladay accompanied Shane Victorino recently, to a dinner event for the Philadelphia Sports Writers’ Association. The pitcher has been preparing for the coming season, and he’s more than eager to start off with the season as the Philadelphia Phillies
will try to break the momentum in the National League through ascension in the playoffs.
The pitcher has been actively training, and he is working out at the Carpenter Complex since the December 1st, 2010. The player was able to update the press on his right groin area which was believed to have been injured during the 5th game
in the National League Championship, against the San Francisco Giants. He told the press at the dinner that there was nothing to worry about and the only thing to focus on was the upcoming campaign.
The player, however, did feel sidetracked by the dinner and last week’s banquet in New York. His offseason preparation lies on the top of his agenda, as the spring training session closes in.
"Surprisingly, it's been very easy," Halladay said. "We did a lot of our stuff early on this winter, when there wasn't much going on, and I could kind of manage it. ... I'm excited. There's definitely the possibility to have a great pitching staff. "
Halladay stated that it was going to get easier to evaluate the team’s pitching squad when they would be put together. Subsequently, he added that the players would have an extended list of responsibilities to deal with as well, in the process. Nevertheless,
the situation is exciting and there is an element of fun for him. That would not only preclude the players but the rest of the club’s supporters too. He added that he was definitely looking into the prospect.
"I know (Roy) Oswalt is the same way. I know Cliff (Lee) is the same way. It's that point in your career when you really have to start chasing (a World Series title). Being on this team right now, I think we've all got to like our chances and hope we do
what we need to do to get it done."
Nevertheless, with the season kicking off soon, it will be interesting to see what fans and analysts learn about the new Phillies’ line up. The challenge will be something new for the players to alleviate their game in the short run.
