Roy Halladay will undergo shoulder examination on Tuesday - MLB Update
As per the reports, Roy Halladay will be examined on Tuesday before any conclusion about his return is made. The Philadelphia Phillies are thoroughly concerned about his injury.
Knowing that anything related to shoulder more often than not turns out a scary proposition, they are paying special care to him.
Halladay will be needed by the Phillies on June 6 and if his injury remains problematic until then, he is going to leave the Phillies in serious trouble.
As regard to possible alternatives, the Phillies will turn to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, most probably, if Vance Worley does not recover in time.
Considering the Phillies’ position on National League East Division Table, getting all the injured players back to the line-up is something which is needed desperately at the moment.
With the regular season entering a crucial phase, the Phillies cannot afford to experience lengthy losing streaks. They are hoping for a new beginning.
Earlier, due to injuries of Chase Utley and Ryan Howard, their offence had worsened. Later it improved to some extent, though. Hitters like Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino did manage to put up better performances.
Since pitching department forms real strength of the Phillies. Therefore, shoulder sourness by Halladay, which is likely to turn into a complete injury, will be the serious setback.
On Monday, assistant general manager, Scott Proefrock acknowledges negative impact his absence will have on the clubs’ performance. At the same time, he terms the Phillies to be lucky.
Every time a player gets injured in the season, someone else fills the void and drastically reduces magnitude of the impact, he maintained.
"Anytime you have an injury, you have a concern, no matter who it is," Scott Proefrock said. "We've been through these things before. [Vance] Worley, [Roy] Oswalt last year. We're fortunate we have Kyle [Kendrick] in the role he is in. Hopefully Vance is
close to coming off the DL, so we'll be covered again."
One will hope that as reports emerge following examination on Tuesday, soreness he suffers will just be a routine and the Phillies are not going to be without him for a very long-time.
