Roy Halladay wins as Philadelphia Phillies outscore Miami Marlins 9-7 - MLB Update

Starter Roy Halladay wins his 10th game of the season as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Miami Marlins 9-7 at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 11, 2012 in the second game of the three match series.
Phillies got off to a belligerent start, adding three runs in the first inning. Such a dominant beginning provided them an early advantage. It became easier for them afterward to maintain the pressure throughout the game.
At the end of the sixth inning, Phillies were on course and set for recording a comprehensive victory.
However as they were thwarted in the top of the seventh with four runs scored by the Marlins, they were prone to losing during the penultimate innings.
Thanks to the Phillies’ relievers, Marlins were not allowed to run away with the victory. Jonathan Papelbon earned his 33rd save of the season by striking-out two and ending up the inning scoreless.
Offensively shortstop Jimmy Rollins wreaked the bulk of the damage to opposition. He hammered two hits in three at-bats while contributing three RBIs. He also smacked a home-run in the match.
Rollins is of the view that while earlier the Phillies struggled to implement their plans properly as of now they are heading in the right direction. He lauds the way his team-mates have performed offensively and defensively in the last couple of weeks.
"There are times we got breaks (this season) and weren't able to take advantage of it," Rollins said. "This time we were. It's more than that, though. We're executing, playing good defence, and getting good pitching and timely hitting. We know we needed
to clean it up in many areas."
Seconding the view expressed by Rollins, Phillies’ manager Charlie Manuel believes they have started playing the way which has been missing from the team for most part of the season.
"Things have been going our way good," Charlie Manuel said.
Phillies will be looking to use the momentum to defeat the Marlins in the last game of the series.
Right now they are in a best position to end the season on a high by taking their winning percentage to a respectable level.
It will be interesting to see how long they can keep winning matches from now onward.
