Roy Halladay’s health is a concern for Philadelphia Phillies - MLB Update
Roy Halladay was unimpressive the other day and was struck for plenty of hits. It has come out that his health has been a problem for him but manager Charlie Manuel and Roy Halladay tried to dispel the impression that he is troubled by it.
His poor performance in the last couple of games can be blamed on his health.
Halladay wanted to end the season by throwing quality innings in the remaining games. It is for the same reason he continued starting matches. He was of the view that once the doctors treat him he will be in a position to carry his expedition in the season
smoothly.
If Halladay remains uncertain for the upcoming games, his replacements will be announced by the team.
Halladay has gone through a fairly forgettable season so far. Right from day one he has struggled to block hits and home-runs coming off from his pitches. To make matters worse for him, he has been injured and remained out for number of weeks in the season.
By the time he returned from injury, he was upbeat to prove a point and to assert that he is still the most reliable pitcher for the Phillies. However far from this, batters’ merciless attitude against him remained and he was not allowed to settle down.
Barring a couple of good performances, he was hammered just as badly as he was at the start of the season.
Currently Halladay is fighting to regain his lost pride by throwing impeccable innings.
The fact his team-mate Cliff Lee has also stated that his health is an issue with him shows that he suffers a genuine problem.
Lee believes it is surprising to see the likes of Halladay not putting up splendid shows on the mound. He states that Halladay has in the past been the most dominant pitcher in baseball.
“He’s been the best pitcher in baseball for the past decade,” Lee said. “Any time you see a guy go through some struggles that’s been that good, you wonder why, you wonder what’s going on.”
It will be interesting to see what the Phillies decide about their rotation in the upcoming days if Halladay does not recover.
