Roy Halladay’s spectacular no-hitter display tops this year’s highlights
Roy Halladay is the pitcher who has made the headlines, this year. Considered as a Cliff Lee replacement, back in 2009, the former Toronto Blue Jays player made history when he featured in the 2010 play-offs with the Philadelphia Phillies. Considered as
one of the top trade worthy agent player in last year’s off season period, Halladay threw away his chance to make a multiple year signing with a top club and made his way to the Phillies.
Moving on a $60 million contract extension, lasting three years, Roy waived his trading clause and made himself a permanent member of the Phillies family. For many teams in Major League Baseball, Halladay was titled a top pitcher and deliverer. Fortunately
for the Phillies, the signing proved useful at the end. Halladay won 21 games last season and rewrote history when he played in the post season period. The top pitcher became the second player in Major League history to post a no hitter result against another
team in the play-offs. The achievement came against the Cincinnati Reds and it granted the club the means to move to the National League Championship. Even though the Phillies dropped out of the series against the San Francisco Giants, Halladay made his impact
at the club. Roy Halladay said,
"I think moving forward, there's parts of the season you're going to enjoy, parts of the season you're going to remember. But I think the one thing that sticks out there is trying to win. I think that is going to be the overwhelming thing for me this winter.
If we won, I might have retired. I don't know. To be able to have that anticipating looking forward, I think that's going to be the overwhelming thing for me."
Roy Halladay had made a major accomplishment in Major League Baseball as he delivered the 20th no hitter perfect game in baseball history. He did that against the Florida Marlins. Halladay pitched hard when it was needed of him to do so. Halladay
stated,
"The longer you play, the more you think about having that chance and being able to be involved in it," "It's been fun to do here because of the atmosphere and the guys on the team. It's been really everything that I hope it would be. It's something that
I've looked forward to, and obviously very glad I got the chance."
