Roy Hodgon Becomes Brand New Liverpool Manager
Roy Hodgson has been confirmed as the new manager of Liverpool. Roy Hodgson (born 9 August 1947) is an English former footballer and as of today football manager of Liverpool.
Hodgson is probably best known for guiding the Swiss national team to the last 16 of the 1994 World Cup and qualification for Euro 1996; Switzerland had not qualified for a major tournament since the 1960s. He has also coached many notable club sides, including Malmö FF, Inter Milan, Blackburn Rovers, Udinese and most recently, at Fulham.
This took place shortly after the officials at Anfield agreed a compensation deal with Fulham. The sixty two year old was rumored to take over as boss shortly after the departure of Rafael Benitez to Inter Milan. Liverpool are rumored to have paid a sum worth around two million pounds to get the manager free of his contract at Fulham.
Hodgson was also hotly linked to take over as England’s national team manager after Capello failed to provide any end result with them. But he has always said that he has always wanted to take the hot seat at Anfield which is where he has now ended up.
It will however be interesting to see what happens with Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard, since both players had recently relseased statements saying that they would look into their future at the club. Hodgson has a lot of work ahead of him, if he hopes to take Liverpool to being as successful as they were in the past years.
