England manager Roy Hodgson believes that his side needs to improve on their counter attacking opportunities against Sweden, but was overall satisfied with their performance in a 1-1 draw against France in the opening game.
Even though the Three Lions managed to eke out a point against the Les Bleus, the fixture was dominated by Laurent Blanc’s side, who created a host of chances and enjoyed majority of the possession. In the entire game, England managed to hit just a single
shot on target, which fortunately for them ended up in the back of the net.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 requiring a win or draw to put up their first points in the group, the 64-year old admitted that his side needs to improve on their attacking, and must make the most of any goal scoring opportunity that comes their way.
He told the reporters in an interview, “We’ve got to continue to work hard on the attacking side of the game. We have to try to make certain when we do get these good counter-attacking opportunities that we maximise them and take advantage to the full.”
Despite being the second best team for a major chunk of the game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vigilance-c40891 shown by the English defence to keep the French strikers at bay. He pointed out that the football which is being played at the
European Championships is of the highest calibre, and hence teams will get limited chances to score goals.
Talking of the Three Lions game against the Blue-Yellow on Friday night, Hodgson conceded that Erik Hamren’s team are exceptionally good when it comes to dealing with the set-pieces, but was not too worried how to deal with him, as he believed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749
had a couple of set-piece specialists themselves.
He added, “I'm also fortunate we have some good set-play specialists of our own and we scored against France not least thanks to Steven Gerrard's wonderful delivery from a free-kick.”
“All you can do is prepare in the best possible way and make it clear to your team what threat the opponents pose.”
