Roy Hodgson Speaks on Joe Cole - Part 1
Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson revealed that he had a talk with former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole about his poor start to the season for the Reds. Joe Cole arrived at Anfield on a free transfer from Chelsea in the summer, but despite
the many expectations, he failed to impress. The England international was determined to do well for his new side, but things did not go as planned. In his first game for Liverpool, Cole received a straight red card which saw him serve a three match suspension.
Upon his return, he suffered from an injury, which kept him out for another few weeks. He did feature in the Europa League for Liverpool, but besides a missed penalty, his appearance wasn’t memorable. It has been suggested that Cole is struggling in the Liverpool
squad because he does not have the freedom in the central midfield; however, Hodgson was certain that this was not the problem. The Englishman refused to accept the fact that it was Liverpool’s formation that was hampering the midfielder’s progress at Anfield.
He said, “I think he has got to do it on the field of play. With all the best will in the world, people can be in support or not in support, some will say he's not doing it, and some will say he's unlucky because he's not playing
in the right position. But I don't have any truck with that. Joe is a midfield player, and what's the right position for a midfield player? Joe has to come to terms with the fact that he has come here after an unsuccessful period at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 with high hopes
of taking Liverpool by storm and unfortunately it's not happened. That's life. He should have great confidence in his ability as he is a very good footballer.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 Sports Venture owner John Howard took over the club, the group revealed that
they had hopes of winning the English Premier League crown. It seems impossible at this stage, since Liverpool are at ninth place and the race at the top of the table seems very tight. Manchester United are currently in the lead, with Manchester City, Arsenal
and Chelsea hot on their heels. A phenomenon observed this season has been the slip up of the top teams, and with big fixtures coming up for the current top four, more slip ups are expected. This would only mean http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 will have the opportunity to catch
up, that is, if they maintain a good, consistent performance. Hodgson was confident the 29 year old midfielder could make use of this time and prove himself to everyone.
