Roy Hodgson admits Fernando Torres joining Manchester United is a possibility
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson says there is a chance that Fernando Torres may end up joining Manchester United.
Torres has struggled to find form at Liverpool this season and there will be a gaping hole in the Manchester United attack now Wayne Rooney has confirmed he wants to leave Old Trafford.
"I don't think Torres would be the only player they'll be targeting or we'd be the only club worried their star is going to be a target. I'm not naive enough to think there is no danger we'll ever lose
Torres. I can only hope we won't. I'll do everything in my power to keep him happy at the club," said Hodgson.
Torres could offer a lot to Manchester United. It may turn out to be the striker's last chance to join a big English club as his options of returning to Spain are limited.
An exciting move
There is no dancing around the fact that Torres is certain to be one of the players that Sir Alex Ferguson is looking at. United will have to bring in a big name player once Rooney has completed his exit
from the club.
Torres ticks all of the boxes that United will be looking for in a player. He is quick, strong and already settled up in Northwest England. It's unlikely that United would be forced to pay over the odds
for this player.
Torres has looked a little out of sorts at Liverpool this season. It's clear the club does not have the quality that a player of Torres' stature will want. There is virtually no chance of a move to Barcelona
back in Spain and his history with Atletico Madrid means a move to Real Madrid is out of the question.
"I'm pretty sure when a great player like Wayne Rooney is looking to leave his club, Manchester United will be in a position to target an awful lot of players around the world," added Hodgson.
