Roy Hodgson apologizes to the Kop
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss Roy Hodgson has said sorry to all the fans for his comments made following the Reds shock defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield.
Hodgson was embarrassed when chants of 'Dalglish' (Kenny Dalgish) and 'Hodgson for England' were heard at Anfield following their 1-0 loss to a low lying premier league team. Hodgson had claimed that he never got the famous Kop support behind him and his
team since his arrival at the club and that was taken as an attack on the critics in the home audience. However, Hodgson defended his comments stating that the things may have been misinterpreted.
"I'm afraid people have taken one small comment where I was describing my situation. I was responding to a question about how it felt to be jeered by fans, making it clear it hurts me and I was disappointed by it because no-one wants to feel they are unpopular,”
claimed the 63 year old manager.
The manager added that being the manager, he had to take such harsh things but only complained that it had been a roller coaster ride for him.
"It's been an uphill struggle and I was not the first choice appointment with a lot of fans. But if I have offended them in any way I deeply regret that. All I can do is apologise and make it perfectly clear there was nothing offensive in my comments," explained
the manager.
The former Fulham manager stated that the fans have every right to share their views and would now be working towards improving the team overall. Hodgson praised the fan support and claimed that the fans need something good to cheer for and that wasn’t present
in midweek.
"I don't think they were happy with anyone and as manager you are first in the firing line. The Anfield support will always be there and what's more it's better in times of crisis," explained Hodgson in his press conference.
Reports have claimed that Hodgson's days are numbered at the club and he can be sacked in the coming week. These reports don't leave Roy in an ideal situation and he might have to fire now, more than ever.
