Roy Hodgson appointed as West Brom manager
According to news that has just emerged, it is being reported that Roy Hodgson has been appointed as the new manager of West Brom. The manager’s new contract is going to see him take the reins of the side until the summer of 2012.
West Brom became manager-less on February 6th, when they parted ways with Italian manager, Roberto Di Matteo. The sacking of Di Matteo came as a shock to most, considering the fact that the manager was the person responsible for the team’s promotion
from the Championship last season.
Di Matteo had even helped the side pickup impressive wins over the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal this season, but having one match out of nine in a row and then simultaneously getting knocked out of the FA Cup, eventually lead to his dismissal.
Hodgson on the other hand was appointed manager of Liverpool at the start of the season, after having a more than impressive run with Fulham. The manager successfully managed to guide Fulham all the way to the finals of the inaugural Europa League competition.
However, despite having lost in the final game to Atletico Madrid, the manager earned the respect of all his peers.
Hodgson was expected to repeat the same success at Anfield, but his appointment with the Reds turned out to be nothing short of a disaster and as a result, the manager decided to part ways with the team on January 8th, 2011 on mutual consent.
Hodgson had been without a job since then, but it now seems like he is going to be trying his luck with West Brom, in hopes of keeping the team afloat at the end of the season.
It was previously believed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Hughton, the former Newcastle manager would be appointed as the new manager at West Brom, but it seems like the board at the club has decided to opt for Hodgson instead, who has ample experience in the Premier League.
It is too early to determine if Hodgson’s stay at West Brom will turn out to be like the one he had at Fulham, or if it will be the same as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
However, considering that the manager has performed fairly better with lesser sides in the past, it’s best to stay optimistic about his future with the club, at the moment.
