England’s manager, Roy Hodgson has admitted that a lack of silverware has taken its toll on the national side and could be affecting them on a mental level.
The national team hasn’t gone on to win a single tournament since 1966 and Hodgson is trying to break that trophy drought, as he hopes to get the current squad to win the Euro 2012.
Despite his determination to do well in the tournament, he has insisted that there is an invisible weight on the players shoulders, as they are looking to ending the trophy drought, which has associated itself with the team.
"Of course we feel the weight of history," Hodgson told reporters.
"As a top nation we haven't won as many tournaments as we should or done as well as we should.”
"We all feel that weight and there's nothing we can do to take it off our shoulders except make certain we embrace the tournament, that we are not afraid of it and that we believe in ourselves."

England will take a lot of positives from their performance, as they look to build on them and improve in the coming games.
The Three Lions now need to start winning their remaining matches, if they are to stand any chance of progress from their group.
