Roy Hodgson challenges Joe Cole to come good
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson believes that summer signing, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694, should concentrate on his form and try to win him over.
Joe Cole moved to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 on a Bosman in the summer, from Chelsea. He was expected the set the world alight but he has hardly done enough to warrant a starting role in the team.
Joe Cole prefers to play behind a front man, but that position is currently occupied by club captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196. Roy Hodgson has even played two strikers up front this season, which has led to Cole being deployed out wide on the left of midfield.
However, former Fulham manager believes that a player of Cole’s experience should not complain and rather do his talking on the pitch.
"I think he has got to do it on the field of play," Hodgson said.
"With all the best will in the world, people can be in support or not in support, some will say he's not doing it, and some will say he's unlucky because he's not playing in the right position.

"But I don't have any truck with that. Joe is a midfield player, and what's the right position for a midfield player? Gerrard has played all over midfield for as long as I can remember.”
Hodgson was adamant that Joe Cole should come in terms with the fact that he came to Liverpool, after being frozen out by Carlo Ancelotti at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. Although Liverpool fans had high hopes from him which have failed to materialise, Cole should accept this
as a part of life and move on.
"He should have great confidence in his ability as he is a very good footballer. As far as I am concerned, everything he has to say should be said on that patch of green grass.” explained Roy Hodgson.
Reds play five matches in 15 days time and Roy Hodgson believes there will be plenty of opportunities for Cole to show what he can do and it’s only a matter of time before he gets his confidence back and play like Cole we all know.
"I don't care how many things are written or said, you can't make black into white. But he is training well, it seems to me that his confidence is gradually returning and all Joe needs is a couple of good games or maybe a goal and that could turn things
around for him.”
Roy Hodgson also made it clear that he never promised Cole a role behind the front man at the time he was being signed from Chelsea. Hodgson has challenged Cole to do a job for the team, just like he did it for Chelsea and for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 – mostly in wide areas.
