Roy Hodgson expecting to be sacked soon
Roy Hodgson has reportedly given up all hope of retaining his job as Liverpool manager, after his side’s shocking loss to Blackburn on Wednesday. The 63-year-old is now expecting to be axed any minute.
The report comes in the wake of Liverpool’s 3-1 thrashing at the hands of Blackburn at Ewood Park. Prior to Wednesday’s encounter, Blackburn had only won one game in 20 previous attempts against Liverpool in all competitions. Many believe that this latest
defeat might just be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. According to English newspaper The Sun, the Reds manager himself considers his reign at Anfield to be over.
The Sun claims that after Liverpool’s defeat to Blackburn, Roy Hodgson gave an emotional farewell speech to his players and backroom staff. An insider told the newspaper, “Roy was very down and emotional. He said things like 'It's been a pleasure working
with you all but I'm sure the owners will want me out after this'. And he even added 'It's no fun hearing your own fans singing another manager's name every two minutes'.”
Roy Hodgson left his position at Fulham to manage http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at the start of the season. His dream job at Anfield soon turned into a nightmare. A string of bad results has seen the Reds stumble to their worst position in the league in years. Liverpool are
currently floundering in 12th position, and are going down rapidly.
Hodgson has lost all support from the fans, who almost unanimously want to see him sacked. New http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 Sport Ventures, the club’s new owners, are also very worried about the entire situation. They were determined to give him the time he needed to rebuild
his team; however, the lack of fan support has made them reconsider their stance. The pressure has been steadily mounting on Hodgson since the start of the season, and the loss to Blackburn might just prove be the breaking point.
It’s now almost inevitable. Roy Hodgson has seemingly resigned himself to his fate, fueling rumors that we may soon see another manager in the hot seat before the end of the season. If Hodgson manages to keep his job until Sunday, his next game will be a
Third Round FA Cup tie against fierce rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.
