England’s manager, Roy Hodgson has gone on to hail the performance of his team in their friendly game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926.
In the game against the Italians, the Three Lions went on to concede the first goal of the game, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-De-Rossi-c10112 went on to score for the Italians.
However, goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 saw England come back from behind and pick up the win in the game.
What made the game a whole lot more interesting, was the fact that the Italians had knocked http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 out of the Euro 2012 and as a result, even though the game was labelled as a friendly, it was one where the Three Lions were looking for revenge.
When talking about the game, Hodgson is quoted to have said: "It's not about systems, it's about players. I think that the three guys in midfield, they passed the ball and controlled the ball very well.”
"The wide players worked very hard for us but often there's not such a lot of difference between what we were trying to do in the Euros and what we were trying to do tonight.”
"Maybe the major difference was that tonight we showed a bit more composure on the ball and were lucky enough to pass it a little bit better."
The manager had opted to field a very different team in the game, as compared to the one that faced off against the Italians in the Euro 2012.
The England boss claimed that he wanted to see just how the new players would perform in the game, while admitting that he was giving everyone a chance to represent the national team.
"It gave us a chance to see so many new players," he added. "It might have been different if we'd had to use the same players we did all though the Euros.”
With so many players surpassing Hodgson’s expectations, it will be interesting to see just what the manager opts to do in the future and what players he decides to start with in his coming games.
It is now a wait to see how the new look squad will perform for the team.
