Roy Hodgson happy with Liverpool’s current form
FC Liverpool thrashed Aston Villa 3 - 0 in their last encounter, while star Captain Steven Gerrard, midfielder Jamie Carragher and Fernando Torres were on leave. Jamie’s dislocated shoulder against Tottenham, Steven Gerrard’s aggravated
hamstring and Torres being on leave for his wife’s pregnancy all put the three footballers out of commission. Liverpool had been in a woeful run in the current season followed by a never ending series of injuries. But the club seems have bounced back with
all its glory and Hodgson praised Ryan Babel for his goal scoring performance who found the net with a superb finish. He was quite cheerful with the way Liverpool was playing with an emphatic victory over Aston Villa.
Hodgson, a former English football player, has managed sixteen teams including the Swiss and Finn national teams. The 63 years old, Hodgson, also served as a member of UEFA’s technical study group and also a member of the FIFA
technical study group at the World Cup 2006. He joined FC Liverpool on 1 July, 2010 by signing a three year contract. Under his supervision, Liverpool has enhanced their home performances and after a comprehensive victory over West Ham United and Aston Villa,
defeating them both 3 - 0, the Reds hit the eighth place on the Premier League table.
Hodgson said, “I have never pondered over Ryan Babel as we have Gerrard, Torres and Ngog. The competition has always been intense as he loved to play in a central position. I worked with him in the training sessions and when Torres
was unavailable, I had no hesitation on putting him in the squad and he proved my faith in him. The good thing is that he gained some confidence after being absent from the team for so long. I am delighted with the way Ngog and he played against Steaua.”
