English Premier League side Liverpool are suffering by not reaching the top four this season. The manager of the club, Roy Hodgson has not been doing a very good job with the club and he has proven that he is only a small club manager. However, he did sign
a few good players just to try to keep the team’s position in the top half of the Premier League table.
One signing that Roy Hodgson made this season – and for free – was Joe Cole. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 midfielder who was not getting regular football with “the Blues” decided to make a move to “the Reds” instead. However, what he did not know was the fact that
Liverpool were to face disappointment in the future. After a dull start with the Merseyside club, he added to his “services” by being injured.
The injury prone 29-year-old Englishman has simply not done much to impress the fans or his coach. The example of this can easily be taken from his performance in the first official match of the Premier League. Liverpool were to face Arsenal and the English
midfielder managed to get red carded and that was when Liverpool drew the game in the second half and could not capitalise after a “hard” first week.
Joe Cole has not yet played in his favourite position, which is right behind the striker. However, the reason why he has not yet been at that position is because of the presence of better players like Steven Gerrard and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-Meireles-c30678 who are doing a much
better job.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694’s form this season and the “big boss” seemed to be unsatisfied. He said that many would say that he is playing out of position but he thinks that a midfielder is “never” out of position. He stated that the captain
of his team, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 has played in all parts of the midfield and in case Joe Cole wants to prove himself, he has to play in the position that is given to him.
He said that for now Joe Cole has not anything to impress him or the Liverpool fans. He insisted that no one can change black into white and he does not care what people say but Joe Cole has been training well at the moment. The team has a lot of fixtures
following Christmas and the boxing day therefore, Joe Cole is going to have a lot of time on the pitch and he is going to have to prove himself. He stated that everyone who has to do the “talking” he has to do it on the pitch.
Even though he is not much satisfied from Joe Cole he still thinks that he can turn up and prove that he is that kind of player who can change the cause of the game. Liverpool are currently 9th in the Premier League table and they definitely need
wonders after they are done with the winter break. They are going to be facing Blackpool on Boxing Day and they definitely need to beat them in order to move up the table.
To sum Joe Cole’s performance up so far, Roy Hodgson said:
"You'll have to ask him what isn't working. If he says, the only place he can play is behind the striker, he is limiting his chances of playing here. We also have Gerrard and Meireles who can play in that position, and we also have a situation where at the
moment quite often we are playing with two strikers.”
