Roy Hodgson out to destroy Fulham
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson warned Fulham there will be no quarter given when the two sides face each other in the Premier League on Saturday. Roy Hodgson was the Fulham manager for two and a half years, taking the reins of the
London club back in December 2007. At the time, Fulham were destined for relegation, but the 63-year old turned the club around. Last season, he even led Fulham to the first Europa League final in the club’s history.
However, Hodgson has warned the Cottagers that he will be aiming for nothing less than a win when his Liverpool side faces Fulham. Hodgson took over as manager of Liverpool in the summer. The former Fulham boss has had difficulty
adjusting to life at Anfield. Liverpool are currently ninth in the Barclays Premier League. It looks unlikely that the Reds will earn a coveted Champions spot, or even a Europa League position, this season. However, the Liverpool manager is taking it one step
at a time. Speaking about the upcoming match, Hodgson made it clear that his past with Fulham will not be on his mind, saying,
‘Sentiment has never played a part in my football life. I like to win with the team I am working with and it doesn't really matter if the opponents are a team I happen to like or dislike. I have such respect for the club but I
don't know whether that adds spice. But when match day comes around they are enemy number one. Hopefully we can win the game and then be big friends afterwards.’
Fulham are hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone at the moment. They have won only 2 games in the season so far and have yet to win a game away from home. Meanwhile, Liverpool have won their last 4 Premier League games
at Anfield and will be looking to extend their winning streak. Roy Hodgson expects a difficult match when Fulham travel to Anfield on Saturday. The Liverpool manager said,’ they, like ourselves, are desperate for points and I think it will be an intensive
game.’
