Roy Hodgson planning on Sampdoria raid, transfer of Antonio Cassano expected
Liverpool’s manager, Roy Hodgson is looking to spring a major transfer without really attempting an audacious or over the top bid. The player that the manager is hoping of landing is Sampdoria's forward, Antonio Cassano. The striker, who
has been rather good in the last couple of seasons in the Italian Serie A, seems to have fallen out of favour in Italy. However Hodgson believes that he can lure the out of favour striker to Anfield in hopes of him strengthening the Liverpool attack line.
The twenty eight year old player, who formerly played for Real Madrid in Spain, had a fall out with the club's president. The reason for the quandary was the player’s refusal to attend an awards ceremony, which triggered a series of arguments
and as a result left the player was left stranded.
Hodgson on the other hand, had been watching this fall out, in hopes of it triggering a move for the Sampdoria man to Liverpool. Despite the move looking to be a rather tricky one for the manager to pull off, it could prove to be a rather
intelligent one.
With the club looking to get rid of the player as soon as possible, they would be willing to accept any outrageously low fee that is offered for him. Had Cassano not fallen out with the team he would have cost Liverpool a minimum of fifteen
million pounds, but that does not seem to be the case anymore and the player could potentially leave the team for as low as seven million.
A move to Liverpool might just prove to be a win win situation for both the player and the team. Cassano has not been getting much playing time which has caused him to rust while having limited opportunities of being included in the national
team.
Nonetheless if the player does manage to make the move to Anfield then it is assured that he would get more playing time then he is currently facing, this is because he would be asked to partner Fernando Torres up front and when Torres
is not fit he would be asked to lead the line on his own. In either condition the player will be on the pitch and playing in the first team.
His addition to the squad would also improve the quality that Liverpool need up front but have been lacking for the last couple of seasons, apart from Torres the team does not have a single quality striker, however Cassano could prove
to be just the man that the team was looking for.
