England manager Roy Hodgson has praised goal scoring Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who secured a passage for the Three Lions into the knock out stages of the European competition.
The fixture against Ukraine was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736’s first match after returning from suspension and he did brilliantly by scoring the only goal of the game. His goal gave England the much needed win and all three points which saw them finish top of the group.

He felt the Manchester United strikers Wayne Rooney and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-Welbeck-c10233 had done particularly well in the European tournament. He praised them for their hard work and urged them to continue with their fine form for the future fixtures.
Hodgson said in an interview:
“Those who have followed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043, you know what Rooney is, what he can do and his qualities. He showed them in abundance tonight. He and (Danny) Welbeck worked extremely hard.”
Along with Wayne Rooney, Hodgson gave a special mention to skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 who not only provided the cross for Rooney’s goal but was also awarded the man of the match award. He revealed:
“He has built up to this man of the match award in the previous two games as well, playing a captain's innings throughout.”

and won the match.
Hodgson continued:
“The back four were very good today [Tuesday], and the goalkeeper, they kept their shape and discipline extremely well. Although there were shots at our goal, they were from distance and didn't really necessitate (Joe) Hart to make saves.
It was a game to praise the team performance.”
