Despite recent focus on the likes of Steven Gerrard and Scott Parker, the England national team manager has revealed that all England players are victims of fatigue, not just Gerrard and Parker due to their age...
Roy Hodgson has come out and hinted that he might change his starting line up for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749’s upcoming group stage tie against Sweden on Friday as several of his players are suffering from fatigue.
The focus in the media has been on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 and Scott Parker as both the players were forced to work very hard by the French national team as England battled hard to gain a 1-1 draw against Les Blues. Both Parker and Gerrard
are also on the wrong side of 30 but Hodgson has said that their age does not make them more susceptible to fatigue as others are also affected by it.
The temperatures in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Poland-c2983 and Ukraine have been high as well which have posed difficulty for the English national team as well as they are not used to playing in such heat. Hodgson will indeed have to look into his 22 man squad
now and decide who should start the next game. Parker even failed to complete the match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 due to a cramp so he is more of a doubt for the second match.
Hodgson said, "Scott's 31 and Steven 32, we're not talking about old players. Age doesn't bother me, obviously when you go into the third game you are going to be concerned for all your players, not just Steven Gerrard and Scott
Parker.”
He added, "You're going to be concerned for them all whatever age they are because three games played in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 have players considerably older than our team and I think I heard
that we are the third youngest squad in the tournament.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102 is one of the options that Hodgson can turn to in absence of Parker but the Tottenham midfielder’s discipline and work ethic will be missed by England if he does indeed miss their second EURO 2012 encounter.
