Roy Hodgson talks about problems at Liverpool

Roy Hodgson, Liverpool’s boss, has admitted that severe problems are being faced by his club, at the moment. The solution, he suggests, lies in a new ownership and investment to buy players in order to win some trophies.
It has been a long time since Liverpool secured their last success in Premier League. Manchester United has closed down the gap and has equalled Liverpool in terms of league titles. Liverpool, on the other hand, is facing a leadership dilemma, as they are unable to find any leader that can help them out of their troubles. So, their new boss, Roy Hodgson has come out to speak his mind about the possible future of Liverpool.
Hodgson said that there is a need of investment in Liverpool, while the club’s stature would automatically attract other players to play for them. He believed that the time is significant for Liverpool, because the club is up for sale. Any new owner can determine the flow of investments, which in turn will determine the future of the club.
Hodgson also said that the club might be able to regain their lost prestige, but he seemed uncertain in the current conditions at Liverpool. According to Hodgson, things were easy to speculate when the situation was stable at Liverpool, but amidst the financial instability there is nothing that can be said about the possible future. However, Hodgson claimed that a new owner with willingness to invest money to buy new players could prove to be a saviour for Liverpool.
Hodgson has taken the Liverpool job at a very critical point. The team lost their position in top four of Premier League, as they have been dropped down the order. Due to this downfall, which is expected to worsen in the current season, the hardest job at Liverpool is to retain their players. Hodgson admitted his problems as he said that rather than buying new players, the real job is to keep his current squad intact. Hodgson has been successful in achieving this target, to a greater extent, due to which he has been able to keep the hopes of the fans alive. Despite their poor start to the new season, Liverpool still remains a force, as they are still challengers to the Premiership title.
There is no doubt that problems at Liverpool are growing by each passing day, and it is hard for Hodgson to keep the hopes alive. However, he has passed his first test, as he stopped many players from leaving the club, especially Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard and Dirk Kuyt. Only, Javier Mascherano was hard to convince, who left for Barcelona in closing days of transfer market. The temptation is quite obvious; great players want to win trophies, which do not seem probable in current environment at Liverpool. So, the players want to move away to other clubs, where the probability of winning is higher. Still, some players have put their faith in Hodgson, as they have decided to stay for at least another season.
Amidst all these troubles and speculations, Hodgson will be facing another problem in the coming days. When the international duty will be over, some players will come back fatigued or injured. Already, Dirk Kuyt has injured himself during a training session, which will definitely compound the problems at Liverpool. The next few matches will be very critical for Hodgson, as he will have to make use of little available resources to get the best results. This will be necessary to keep the hopes of his fans alive, as they might lose faith in Hodgson at an early point in the season.
The solution to Liverpool’s problems is definitely a change in ownership and more investments. Liverpool is a club with great history behind them, so if players are offered to play at Anfield, there will hardly be any rejections. The club only needs money to attract such players and to pay their wages, which can only be achieved if some billionaire takes over from the current owners at Liverpool. This has proven to be good for Chelsea and Manchester City, so it must work for Liverpool as well.
