Roy Hodgson to be employed by Liverpool’s manager position before England does
The Liverpool Football Club are in pursuit of a new manager and after much debate, their latest target is turning out to be Roy Hodgson. But one thing is for sure that Kenny Dalglish will have a major influence in that decision.
The Liverpool boards have sparked up a sudden interest with the Fulham manager and have stated that by the end of the week they will have a replacement for Rafael Benitez. The dilemma is that Hodgson is also being considered for the job with England, releasing Italian Coach Fabio Capello at last.
The plan is to hire the 62-year-old manager before the English decide to remove Capello after the Slovenia and England match. The match will also have the potential to decide the fate of England in Group C and a win in that case is a must do for England. In other words, the battle at Port Elizabeth will decide the fate of Liverpool and England.
If matters weren’t complicated enough, there was more confusion added by the Liverpool board itself. The intervention of Managing Director Christian Purslow and Kenny Dalglish is complicating the puzzle. Both men have opposed the idea of hiring Hodgson. If something of that sort does materialise, Purslow and Dalglish have threatened to remove their preferences with the club.
An official statement released from the board has told that Dalglish and Purslow ill work as a team to figure out the new manger for the club. However, as always, foreign involvement is ruining the process. It is no secret that Dalglish is also eyeing the Reds’ managerial job and considers that his long friend is just not the person for the post.
Dalglish earlier stated while talking to the media that if Hodgson was considered for the job and he was overlooked he would withdraw his support for the club. This is just another example of deteriorating matters after Rafael Benitez’s departure from the English club.
About two weeks ago, Dalglish was chosen by officials at Anfield to lead the team for the manager’s slot but the issue turned around when he claimed that he would like the job for himself. His biased and prejudicial judgements are not required at all.
Dalglish is amongst one of the favourite idols, chosen by Liverpool fans, to worship. The legend is not just known for his time as a player but his accomplishments as manager are many. He was often regarded as the saviour of the club in troubled times. With support from the fans and the club itself, it might be a good decision after all to leave him in charge of the Anfield throne.
However, there are rumours associating the former occupant of Bernabeu. The ex-Real Madrid coach is also available on the market and Liverpool is now thinking of approaching him with just ten days left. Hodgson remains the favourite to be handed the post, with some sources suggesting that his appointment will be ratified in the next 10 days.
Hodgson, who led the Fulham team to the finals of the Europe League by making history in the process, has been highly regarded for his ability to manage with low funds while producing a stable performance and tranquilize a chaotic state.
Hodgson seems to be the perfect choice as he has just led a demoralized team to the glories of silverware.
If this news comes out to be true, this could also halt the transfers of Fernando Torres and Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard who is on the verge of making a move to Real Madrid and is just waiting for the new Liverpool manager to step in.
