There have been suggestions that the compensation due to be paid to former Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson, after his sacking, will affect Liverpool’s January transfer plans.
However, the club has dismissed such reports and confirmed that the amount due in compensation is no way near the amount of their total transfer budget.
Roy Hodgson signed a 3-year deal with Liverpool in the summer and is expected to be handed one year’s salary in the wake of his sacking before the end of his contract. Even though it is believed that there was a clause in Hodgson’s contract that any new
regime will have the right to terminate his contract with little or no compensation at all.
The rumoured compensation amount is said to be in the region of £4m. This is the same amount paid to Rafael Benitez in June 2010. Liverpool’s commercial director Ian Ayre has come out and cleared the air by saying that any compensation paid to Roy Hodgson,
will not impact Liverpool’s transfer plans nor will it hit them hard financially.
“We reached an agreement with Roy and certainly that type of payment does not come into the same area of business as our transfer budget,” he said.
Ian Ayre was also one of the men who played their part in the hiring of former Fulham manager. However, he now admits that the choice made has proved to be a wrong one.
“In the summer we went through a very exhaustive process and it is easy to look in hindsight and say it might have been better or different,” said Ayre. “Sometimes things don't come together and don't gel and I think everyone felt that was the case with
the level of defeats (nine in the league) and situation on the pitch drove the decision.”
Liverpool have also hired former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and West Ham assistant coach Steve Clark to help Kenny in his quest to get Liverpool’s season back on track. Clark is a highly respected figure in his position and has the experience of working with the 2010 FIFA
Ballon d’Or winner Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.
Kenny believes Clark’s experience of winning title with Chelsea will help his players develop a winning mentality.
