Roy Keane happy with Ipswich Town squad

Ipswich Town manager Roy Keane says that he is happy with the players he has at his disposal and will not be looking for money to improve his squad when the transfer window reopens for business in January.

The Football League Championship outfit are missing several first-team players due to injury, with Mark Kennedy and Luke Hyam both hit by ankle injuries. David Norris has also been ruled out of the match against Hull City on Saturday 20 November due to an ankle
problem.

The lack of options available to Keane was made evident in the 3-1 loss to Barnsley at Portman Road on Saturday 13 November, when eight players under the age of 21 were involved in the game.

But Keane, who will also be without defender Gareth McAuley for three weeks due to an Achilles injury, is happy with the players he has available.
He told the BBC that he was eager to give the younger members of the set-up experience of playing regularly in the second tier of English football.
"It's a case of where we're at, the players we have available. It's not a day of saying we need this and we need that, the only place for these young players to learn is out on this pitch.

"I do want to give the young players the experience of playing at home and in the Championship and make them better players in terms of the overall picture."

The loss to Barnsley was the third defeat in a row and Ipswich are now standing 12th in the Championship table, seven points clear of the relegation zone, but 11 away from the automatic promotion spots.

Keane, who saw the Ipswich supporters boo their own players and cheer on the Barnsley side in Saturday's game, added, "I have no control over that, obviously as the manager, I can look at myself and the team.

"But I can't control whether the supporters are going to boo players, boo me or cheer the opposition. It's the way it is, it's more than a bad day at the office, I'm not trying to play it down."
