The former Bayern Munich striker has insisted that the Spanish duo is certainly favourite to win the competition but is hopeful of Bayern resistance.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid will lock heads in one of the most anticipated matches of the season on Tuesday, April 17, at the Allianz Arena. The teams will face each other in the first-leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final
in Munich.
Makaay claimed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and Real Madrid are certainly the favourites to book a place in the final of the UEFA Champions League this year. He admitted that the Spanish giants have been in sensational form this season and have
been a touch above the other teams in Europe.
However, the former Dutch striker has insisted that the Bavarian giants will give their all in order to get a result against Jose Mourinho’s side. He stressed that the home side have the quality to down any opponent and there are
some world-class players in their ranks who can turn the game on its head.
“Barcelona and Real rate as top favourites for the trophy, but I believe Bayern are big rivals for both this season. They have the extra motivating factor of the final at their own stadium. I do see Madrid as slight favourites,
but the current Bayern team can really hurt Real. And http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374 is back now,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international added that Real Madrid are a better side as compared to the ‘Galacticos’ in 2004. He stated that the current team is far more balanced which shows in their performances this
season.
However, the former striker insisted that only a club such as Barcelona can trouble them which shows the dominance Spanish teams have.
“Real still have plenty of star names, but they look better balanced overall. The only club that continues to cause them major problems is Barcelona,” he concluded.
Roy Makaay made a total of 129 league appearances for Bayern Munich and scored an impressive 78 times in the process. He also has 43 international caps to his name for the Dutch national team.
