The former Bayern Munich striker has tipped the Reds to progress through to the final of the UEFA Champions League.
Former Bayern Munich attacker and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international, Roy Makaay, has revealed that the Munich giants stand a better chance of playing the Champions League final than Real Madrid. He was talking hours before the second-leg
of the semi-final tie between Bayern and Madrid which will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on April 25.
Makaay claimed that Bayern are in a stronger position and will start as favourites against Los Blancos in the second phase. He clarified that the home side will be under pressure to score an early goal to erase Bayern’s advantage.
The former attacker mentioned that Jupp Heynckes’ men are capable enough to score an away goal and therefore Madrid have an uphill task of progressing further.
While talking to a Dutch sports publication, Algemeen Dagblad, the 37-year-old Dutchman further added: "I am convinced that Bayern will score at least one goal. So if Real Madrid want to go through, they need to find the net twice
or more. It's nice that Bayern can reach the final in their own Allianz Arena. The whole club is excited about it."
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 star echoed that the La Liga outfit were unimpressive in the first-leg and will have to improve immensely if they want to overcome a strong Bayern unit. He reckoned that some of the individuals in Madrid side
were below-par last week against the Reds which is going to be a concerning factor for Mourinho.
"Bayern deservedly won the first leg. Real Madrid didn't impress in defence. [Alvaro] Arbeloa was outplayed by [Franck] Ribery last week. But if they offer Arbeloa more support this time, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 will get a lot more space,
and you don't want that either,” Makaay concluded.
Having gained a 2-1 advantage in the first-leg, Bayern need to shut their opponents completely in the return fixture or finish on level terms. The winner will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the final on May 19 in Munich.
It must be clarified that the reigning European champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 crashed out of the competition at the hands of the Stamford Bridge outfit 3-2 on aggregate.
