Roy Oswalt shares a few words after Philadelphia Phillies 1-5 loss to Houston Astros
Philadelphia’s Roy Oswalt was up against his old team and he was pleased to be given the chance to go toe-to-toe against the club that got him to where he is today. Unfortunately, the outing did not go as he had expected it to. The Philadelphia Phillies
lost their fourth and final game of the series at the Minute Maid Park in Houston on Monday, September 12, against the Houston Astros 1-5.
Oswalt had a terrible time on the mound as he struggled to go up against his former club. He conceded five runs from 11 hits in seven innings of pitching. Though he suffered a humiliating loss, he was still up to the task to talk about the game in the post
game press session. He shared a few words on the Astros’ roster and management line-up.
"Facing this team - I don't know many of them," Oswalt said. "The pitching coach, Doug Brocail, I probably played with him the longest (of anyone currently in an Astros uniform)."
J. D. Martinez who has replaced Hunter Pence, in the Astros’ line-up went 3 for 4 against Oswalt and he had a lot of words of praise for the hurler, who stands first with career high wins of 77 at Minute Maid Park.
"He's a guy that throws any pitch in any count, and I felt like a lot of us just stuck with the approach and hit off his fastball and just adjusted to anything else," Martinez said.
The Phillies conceded a two run homer to Carlos Lee in the fifth and Oswalt had to comment on the play. He threw a curve ball on 0-2 and it was in search of a strike.
"I was trying to get it down and away," Oswalt said. "I threw it for a strike, and he popped it up and it went out. The Crawford seats have gotten me here before."
The pitcher went on to state that he knew the ball was not going very far. He however did say that Lee smashed the ball good enough to go out to the front row seats.
