  1. roy jones doesn't have the chin to withstand heavyweight pounding.

  2. From what I remember, from watching Jones, Jr. at heavyweight, he wasn't great but he wasn't bad either. And you're right, about Lewis and the Klitchko brothers. Although his speed against Lewis would've helped him a little, I don't think he had the chin to take a lot of hard shots from him. Lewis would've KO'd him within 6-8 rounds. The Ukraine/Russian brothers are just entirely too mean and can eat pain like candy. No chance for Jones, Jr. there at all.

  3. no way, the guy he beat in the heavyweight championship john ruiz is one of the weakest champ ever. he doesn't stood a chance with lewis or klitchko

  4. As great as Roy was, the size disadvantage against Lennox Lewis or either of the Klitschko's would've been too much for him to overcome. He picked John Ruiz to fight at HW for a reason, and that reason was because Ruiz was not a huge HW or a big puncher. Lewis and the Klitschko brothers would've been way to big for Roy and one good punch from them would've put Roy to sleep worse than Tarver did him.

  5. Roy Jones' greatest advantage at heavyweight would have been his speed over the other heavyweights. Though anyone who knows boxing and has the experience, knows that effective jabbing can be the antidote for speedy fighters.

I truly think that Jones would have had serious problems working his magic against the like of Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko. Those two men know how to use the jab effectively when it counts and with Jones being only 5'11", those 6'5"+ giants would make it difficult for a cautious Jones to get inside without taking a true heavyweight shot. Even Chris Byrd, who was quick in the division and even his size advantage over Jones, couldn't put together an effective game plan to get inside against Wladimir Klitschko.

I think Jones would have been alright, until it came time to step in to earn or defend a title against Lewis or either of the Klitschkos.

  6. Toney would have been interesting as would have been Joe Mesi and maybe even Rahman and an old Holyfield. Sure, he would have been picking his opponents but that's what he did his entire career!

  7. john ruiz was not a great fighter, because two former middleweight champions beat him (great fighters. but not natural heavyweights).

jones jr new what he was doing taking on ruiz, as he wouldn't have beaten either klitschko brother, lewis, or valuev, but he would have probably beaten byrd.

losing all that weight to go back down to 175 led to his defeats against tarver.
