  1. Moore, behind on all three judges scorecards, would find a way to knock out Jones late in the fight. Moore KO round 15 with 1:02 left in the round. Ya gotta remember folks Moore had well over 200 hundred fights and was a slick/crafty boxer who could drop the hammer (really punch).

  2. Speed and GREAT footwork would be Roy's saving grace in this fight......................................

And don't know why people forget that at light heavy Jones also had lights out power!.....................................

But it would be Jones' cat like reflexes and his ability to move away from shots that would win him a UNAN. DEC.

JONES AIN'T KNOCKIN' OUT THE OLD MONGOOSE!

  3. ageless archie wins this one with a late round stoppage, jones eventually wilting under moore's pressure style.

  4. Silly question, if we are talking about both boxers at their prime Roy Jones would win this easily

  5. Good question.  Roy Jones particularly at middleweight was a very fast and elusive fighter with lightning reflexes.  Archie Moore in my opinion is the greatest light heavyweight champion of all time and holds the record for career knockouts.  The man could really fight and fought nearly everyone in his illustrious career.  He took the hardest shots of Rocky Marciano for 9 rounds and Jones Jr can't punch nowhere as hard as either Marciano or Moore.  Moore would be the aggressor and would work on cutting off the ring from the speedy Jones Jr. with Jones Jr. stopping long enough to throw fast combos which would have no effect on "The Ol' Mongoose".  Archie would finally catch Jones Jr. with a hard shot to the chin of Jones Jr in round 9 and send him reeling to the canvas where he would be counted out.

  6. Hey, Kelvin: They aren't going to fight now because Archie Moore is in his 80's. Thanks for offering your opinion on a subject that you clearly know absolutely nothing about.

Whoever compared Archie Moore to James Toney needs to take a clue from the clue bag, too. Toney was a flabby, blown-up middle weight. A very skilled fighter, but not even close to Moore's level.

I think Moore would definitely win this fight. He would be much more powerful--he held his own with the best heavyweights of his era, and his era stretched for about two decades. He was a phenomena, and one of the most intelligent fighters who ever stepped into the ring.

I'm not putting down Roy Jones Jr. He is an all-time great, and perhaps even more naturally talented than Moore. But Moore was bigger and much more experienced that Jones will ever be. Moore fought so many more fights, and so many more tough fights, than Jones that I give him the edge.

  7. Wow noone ever brings Arhie Moore up when talking about dream fights, good job!  I feel with Moore's great defense, and Jone's great hand speed, this would have been a good one, Jone's would have to make Moore chase him around the ring and try to pull out the late rounds without being caught by the Mongoose.  Jones by decision.

  8. roy jones faster and stronger at light heavyweight but i dont think there fight right know cause jones jr wants to fight oscer

  9. Moore wins with an all out pressure attack. His peek a boo style was great. Jones would not go past ten rounds. Jones is a legend but Moore was a pound for pound beast. Figure in prime, training of today, video tapes, and all the advantages today's fighters have. Moore was very active and took on all top dogs. That would be the difference.

  10. I'd  have to go with Roy on this one! Although Archie Moore took some brutal shots from Rocky Marciano, he still couldn't have matched Roy's speed and agility

  11. Very interesting question.  I believe that those two fighters are the best light heavyweights of all time (you could also include Bob Foster in the discussion).  I have Archie Moore as the best light heavyweight and one of the best pound for pound boxers of all time though, so I woud favor Archie over Roy.  I see Archie outlasting Roy and taking everything that Jones has (remember Archie was champ until he was like 48).  Roy might even be winning on points, but eventually Archie will ware him down and stop him between the 11th and 15th rounds.

  12. I would pick Roy all day.  Archie Moore was great, no question, but RJJ speed and quickness would nullify Moore's crafty style.

I don't think Roy would be able to KO him, Moore was very strong, strong enough to challenge at heavyweight, but he would move and pick him apart.

It would look a lot like Jones v. Toney.
