Royal Ascot 2011 - Goldikova, Canford Cliffs, Cape Blanco, add to star studded international line-up
The 300th Royal Ascot meet includes a five day race festival with some mouth watering clashes among the champions. To ignite the race courses, horses internationally, who have shown their worth, are in for the running for this year’s Royal Ascot.
With indigenous talent clashing with the international stars demands respect at so many levels and obviously it will attract a massive crowd this year round.
Royal Ascot will kick off with the Queen Anne Stakes on June 14 and it will also feature four other races and the racing spectacle will be over on 18 June.
All the excitement over so many champion horses taking part in the Royal Ascot this year but the Australian-based superstar, Black Caviar, will skip this year’s Royal Ascot and is reported to be aiming toward the 2012 edition of the Royal Ascot.
Black Caviar was rated as the “World’s Best Sprinter” by Timeform.
Despite Black Caviar sitting the Royal Ascot out, we have the six-year old bay filly, Goldikova, who is going for her 14th Grade One victory, and, what suits her chances is that she won last year’s Queen Anne Stakes and looks in pretty good shape to repeat history.
She has captured victories both on American, and, European soil, and, she is the one to look out for. Reigning champion in the U.S twice and bagging the older female Championship in Europe 2010.
In the opening meet, the Queen Anne Stakes, Goldikova will meet Canford Cliffs and Cape Blanco and they could prove to be a handful for the champion filly, especially Canford Cliffs, whose trainer, Richard Hannon, has been looking forward to meeting Goldikova on the race track.
English Grade One St. James’s Palace Stakes winner, Canford Cliffs, has proved his mettle on many occasions and he definitely will be a threat to Goldikova’s two in a row victory at the Queen Anne Stakes. Canford Cliffs easily claimed the JLT Lockinge Stakes gave his trainer Richard Hannon, more confidence.
Among these three is unbeaten Frankel, who will be looking to continue his winning streak of seven wins from seven starts. Frankel is the most popular horse and the most talked about horse in the world.
Aidan O’Brien’s Cape Blanco is ready for the Grade One and to improve his run with three winless races. O’Brien is confident that the two-time Grade 1 winner will shine in this year’s Royal Ascot.
Todd Pletcher’s Bridgetown lands in England for the Royal Ascot. The four time eclipse award winning trainer is confident of Bridgetown, who had six turf victories, and, last year he finished second in the Grade 2 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.
The 300th Royal Ascot is sure to be full of intrigue with an international line-up and is set to be extraordinary. All will be revealed on 14 June when it all kicks off with the Queen Anne Stakes.
