Royal Ascot 2011 - Kevin Manning and Banimpire pair lands Ribblesdale Stakes, Richard Hughes second
The Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes was captured by The Holy Roman Emperor filly, Banimpire, who was placed at 3 to 1 odds to win. It was a mile and 4 furlong long race and it was a hard fought battle to the finish.
Field Of Miracles was the one to beat in the Ribblesdale Stakes as he gave Kevin Manning and his filly a hard time but the pair dug deep together and kept their composure to land the Ribblesdale Stakes.
Field Of Miracles did the hard work early in to the race leaving the pack behind by showing an impressive pace and importantly capturing more ground as early as she could making her the horse to beat in the 12 horse race.
As far as the conditions were concerned, it was a sluggish track and jockeys had to make the most of whatever was favoring their chances to win the race. Richard Hughes was denied for the first time in the Royal Ascot when he galloped Field Of Miracles
and made the track look easy to run on.
Banimpire, who was placed at 5 to 1 winning odds, gradually wore Field Of Miracles down, and Kevin Manning, her mount kept her steady throughout the race for what turned out to be a final furious furlong at the end of the race.
Trained my J S Bolger and owned by her wife Mrs. J S Bolger Banimpire thrived and came close to Field Of Miracles and stuck her neck out in front with not more than 100 yards to go.
Bolger wanted to see his filly winning the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes after winning the Group 3 Kerry Group Noblesse Stakes and that was the plan to assess her true potential.
Field Of Miracles was out to claim the Group 2 stakes but Kevin Manning and Banimpire had other ideas and the pair spoiled the party to end an excellent run of jockey Richard Hughes, who tried hard to capture the lead at the end of the race, but Banimpire
proved to be too good and forced Field Of Miracles to finish second to her.
Though it was a great run by Field Of Miracles where she kept plugging away at the winner and traced her right till the end in torrid conditions and if it hadn’t gone the way it did in the race, Field Of Miracles, who is owned by Cheveley Park Stud, might
have landed the Ribblesdale Stakes.
Her run pleased her trainer John Gosden a big deal, who plans on taking her next to Yorkshire Oaks, and then Lancashire Oaks.
Banimpire, who apparently eats, sleeps, and, only exerts herself at the race track, claimed her biggest win so far.
