Royal Ascot 2011 – Sir Henry Cecil trained Timepiece grabs Warwickshire Oaks and winning momentum
Timepiece had a vital win just before the Royal Ascot when she wrapped up the Warwickshire Oaks. The win would give her winning momentum for the Royal Ascot.
Timepiece was placed at 11-8 winning odds and was considered a favourite to win the Warwickshire Oaks. The win boosts up the hopes of Timepiece, and, trainer, Sir Henry Cecil, for the upcoming Royal Ascot.
Timepiece, who won the Sandringham Handicap last year, grabbed the English Grade 1 the Investec Epsom Derby, competing against 15 three year old fillies and emerged as a clear winner.
A couple of wins under her belt and she looks good for the Royal Ascot.
It was win number four at Warwick in the 1 mile 3 furlong contest for Timepiece. Conciliatory took the lead straight away but her pace could be easily matched, since her opponents were all over her and pushed her to go faster.
Liam Jones got into the picture and shrugged off Conciliatory to gain the lead but it was shaping out to be a tough race for the leaders since pursuers kept asking for more from the leading horse.
Daughter of Zamindar kept looking for openings to break free and shortly when there was a switch in positions, Tom Queally, who was guiding Timepiece, urged her to pick up the pace and give her all.
Timepiece responded in the right fashion and she had too much pace on her for anyone to match especially her challenger on the field, Sea of Heartbreak, who was left aside, by Timepiece easily to cross the wire and grab the first position.
Ceilidh, who was making a comeback in the season, secured third position had a close run with Mirror Lake, which went close to the wire but Ceilidh edged past Mirror Lake at the right time.
Cecil’s assistant, Mike Marshal, was impressed with the four year old filly that made a good run and looked comfortable and she settled into a nice pass as well.
These are all good signs for trainer, Sir Henry Cecil, going into the Royal Ascot because it is all about momentum, which she has gained at the right time by nailing the Warwickshire Oaks. Sir Henry Cecil knows all about 1 ½ mile races and how to win them.
His experience will be the key going into the Royal Ascot and his fillies are among the best in the business. To name a few, Aviate recently won the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes on 15 May and of course Timepiece has shown promise and impressed a lot of people
because of her winning performances. Timepiece is a formidable stakes winner, who also won the, Trial Stakes. on 8 May.
