I am going on a 7day cruise in April 08. Destination: Grand Caymans, Cozumel, and Montego Bay -Jamaica.

What are the best Excursions to purchase?

Any rules or safety tips I should know about?

How are the beaches at these locations?

Best places to eat?

  1. i just cam off of that ship 3 months ago in the mediterrian you will have a fun time..

    Anyway to your question.

I always when cruising like to set on "beach day" a day to relax, get up late, go to the beach and chill.  So jamaica would be that, as it is towards the end.

Cozumel i have been to twice, shopping city!

Grand caymans has that turtle farm right? i did an excursion that i enjoyed, we went to a run factory and then to this turtle farm,  good trip, meet great people and see the island.

I cant help you specifically, but i can assure you that the ship is nice, again i just got off it three months ago.

I would also make a beach day towards the end of the cruise.

  2. We just did that cruise but on the Liberty of the Seas.

Here is what we did...and I highly recommend all of them!

Labadee, Haiti:  this is a private beach owned by RC.  There aren't too many excursions...most people just enjoy the beach.  We rented Wave Runners and did the guided tours.  If you like thrill rides, this is quite something.  We travelled as fast as the WRs would go...no slow pokes allowed!  It's great if you like flying 5+ feet off waves!   Great time!

Montego Bay, Jamaica:  We just went shopping here.  We got married this day so didn't have a lot of time for excursions.  We just took the shuttle and toured around to see the sights.  Very different culture from what we're used to!

Georgetown, Cayman Islands:  We snorkelled with the Sting Rays here.  It was the most amazing but intense experience of my life.  It is so surreal to be surrounded but these huge creatures that are so accustomed to humans that they come right to you looking for food.  At times it's nerve racking when there's 10 or more of the swarming you but essentially their harmless unless you threaten them....And obviously the presence of hundres of humans doesn't make them nervous!

Cozumel, Mexico:  We went horseback riding here.  The tour itself was low key...not too much to see but the ride was a lot of fun.  Again, this is not an excursion for slow pokes.  They like to keep those horses moving!  The best part of the tour is coming back to the ranch for all you can drink Corona and authentic tacos!!  Great time!!

Now, Hurricane Dean, just passed through these places a few weeks ago so I'm not sure what state they are in right now...I heard some rumors RC changed it's itinary a bit.  Hopefully but April all will be back to normal and you will have your choice of all the excursions.

Hope this helps a bit.  Have a great time!

  3. try cruisecritic.com

    rcci.com

    cruiseclues.com

    to find out about excursions.

  4. Depends on what u like. I personally liked going to Carlos n charlie's & shopping rather than an excursion in Cozumel. Scuba is great in all thise locations. I really would recommend either a guided excursion or staying on the ship in Jamaica... its not great there. Go to www.rccl.com to see the list of excursions on your cruise. I can tell u that scuba & swimming w/ sting rays was fun but it all depends on what u like to do.

  5. if you look around on royal carribean's web site, they give you all the info you need to know about everything!

  6. I've done that same cruise 2x.  Both times we have gone to this park http://www.worldisround.com/articles/863...

It is beautiful.  Great for snorkeling or diving.  You can also swim with dolphins there.  You can catch a cab when you get off the cruise it is cheaper that way.  It is a really nice place and not far away from the ship.

We swam with sting rays and went to the turtle park in Grand Cayman.  It was okay.  There were a ton of sting rays.  It was a bit freaky to me.

Montego Bay is awesome.  We did the coolest thing on the last trip there.  We went river tubing.  The water was so pretty and the perfect temperature.  The river bed is white so the water looks really blue.  It was really fun and unbelievably beautiful.  I would highly recommend.

I would absolutely do a tour or an excursion in Montego Bay it is not a place you would want to walk around on your own.  Cozumel you can walk around and same with Grand Cayman.

  7. Ive been on that exact same cruise just a different ship..(freedom of the seas..we also went to Labadee Haiti)

I did the zipline in Montego Bay...It was so awesome! I think its called the Tree Adventure or something like that

In Cozumel try the Dolphin Swim..a little.expensive but SO worth it!

In Grand Caymans I did a catamaran snorkel and sail...kinda low key but really fun!  Also there is a little town about 15 minutes away from the port called h**l...Its really neat. Its a really weird rock formation from undersea volcanoes that used to be in that area...Columbus ( I think ) stumbled across it and said that it reminded him of what h**l might look like..that is where it got the name....They have a post office there and a lot of people will go to it and mail a postcard back to their families from h**l...a neat thing to do...The beaches are beautiful in Cozumel and Jamaica...I didnt really see that much of the beach in Grand Caymans...We always ate on the ship because it was free but there are some really great local restaurants at all locations....Hope you have fun....Im going on my 3rd RC cruise in 2 weeks...Im so excited!
