  1. usually you have to get yourself to miami. they wont go that far to get you, unless you're famous or something.

You have to get to miami and than take a cab or something to the port. The royal caribbean cruise line will not come get you.

  2. Orlando is in the north central part of the state of Florida, a long long way from Miami.  If you are doing a cruise and want to use the cruise line's transfers to get to and from the ship and airport you will need to fly into an airport that is closer to Miami.  A bus ride from Orlando would be about 6 hour at least.

The Ft Lauderdale airport and the Miami airports are the ones that you should use.  Miami is closer but the  two ports are only about 30 to 35 miles apart.  The bus/taxi fare will be more from the Ft Lauderdale airport and would take longer but you can use whichever airport provides the best priced fare.

If you are going to be in Orlando and want to do a cruise, Royal Caribbean also does cruises out of Port Canaveral which is about an hour away from Orlando and the ship probably DOES provide airport transfers.  We just did a very nice RC cruise out of Port Canaveral in December on the Mariner of the Seas.  That was a 7 day cruise.  RC also has shorter cruises and Disney and Carnival also cruise out of Port Canaveral.  But I do recommend the RC Mariner cruise if you are doing a 7 day.

  3. You will have to fly to Miami. My last cruise we drove to Orlando (3 1/2 hour ) so we could go to Disney but I dont recommend that.

  4. hello

  5. No one yet said, go earlier, spend time in Orlando then go to Miami. I personally PREFER to go a day or two earlier so I can enjoy my cruise from day 1. Nothing quite like sleeping in at the hotel, late snack type breakfast, and then to the pier! Board the ship, and enjoy lunch.

I have time to recover lost luggage, unwind from airport hassles, etc..... no worries about delayed flights. Try it, you like it. ;)

  6. I really, really dislike the Miami airport (lost luggage, long lines, many horror stories). So I sympathize with your question.  =)

Unfortunately, it's over 200 miles from Orlando the Miami pier....  So RCI won't offer transport from the Orlando airport because not many people would use it.

If for some reason you **really** wanted to, you could take this $35 shuttle bus from Orlando to Miami:

But it's really inconvenient.  Not only does it take FIVE hours, it only goes once a day, in the evening.  You'd have to fly in the day before, take the bus, and stay overnight in Miami.

There is also the Fort Lauderdale airport, which is about 30 miles from Miami.  If there are good flights, it's a decent option.  I don't know if RCI offers a shuttle, but you can use http://fortlauderdale-airportshuttle.com...

Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great trip!
