I am going on the Mariner ship in about a week...I am 16, I was just wondering if there are other kids my age on cruise ships b/c it seems like all it is is just little kids...but also do you have to be 18 to get into clubs because my sister is 18 and she would go and Im afraid i'd be stuck with all the younger kids...

  1. The Mariner is a very big ship.  If you are going on a cruise in late July there will likely be about 3500 passengers on the ship.  Of these about 700 to 800 will be under eighteen years old.  Thus you can expect about 100 to 150 in your age group (15 to 17).  The reason you don't see too many teens on the ship is because they are all in either the living room (a place for teens only to hang out or play games, including computers) or Fuel (the teen disco which also has a live DJ and a soft drink bar).

Almost the entire back of deck twelve is for teens only.  So, if you are not swimming, rock climbing, playing basketball, playing on the miniature golf course, inline skating, ice skating or playing in the arcade, then the back of deck twelve is the place for you to go.  Since your sister is 18 she will not be allowed in this area.  She will be stuck with the adults while you have an area that is off limits to both the younger kids and the adults.  Don't worry, you will have a great time.

The nightclub may get started late, but once it gets going, guests are kicking up their heels until the early morning. It's a great place to make new friends, enjoy a cocktail or just listen to the latest hits played by our resident DJ. And we didn't forget about the kids - many of our ships have a teen disco too.

All of our nightclubs are open to guests over the age of 18, with the exception of the teen disco, which welcomes those aged 13-17.

Our teen program isn't some structured set of classes or rules. We know you're almost an adult, and it's your vacation too. So we give you the freedom you deserve. You can join events all day, or come and go as you want. And we have two great places where you can get away from it all. The Living Room is a laid-back place you can just hang with your new friends. And Fuel is the place where the party is. Open 'til 2 a.m., you can dance, listen to music, or just hang out there.

Activities are scheduled throughout the day and early evening. The Teen Center is open from 10:30 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. each evening. Teens are welcome to come and hang out and join in activities, make new friends, and dance or just listen to music.

    Activities Include:

    Teen-Only Nightclub

    Battle of the Sexes

    Coffee Talk

    Dancing Under the Stars

    Backstage Tour

    Teen Skating

    Open Mic

    Club Cafe

    Karaoke

    Pool Party

    Mix and Mingle

    Sports Tournaments

    Scavenger Hunts

    Teen Dinners

    Video Game Challenge

    Movie Night

    Have a great cruise!

  2. I went on a RC Cruise a year ago when i was 16 and i made the best friends i ever had in my life. They have dances every night and lots of teen activities. Go the opening night, that's when you meet people. There is nothing to really do on cruises from the ages of 18-21. 18 or above and your too old for teen stuff and sure you can go to the clubs but you can't drink till your 21. That's probably the worst age group to cruise. I'd say 15-17 is the best age for cruises.

  3. I went on the Mariner in May, and there was a good mix of teens on the ship. They do have a teen club and they also have a lot of ship activities so shouldn't get bored. As for the club initially it is open for all, but after midnight its 18 and over. But it was a a good mix of young and old and the music is pretty good. They didn't card too often so you may be able to stay later as long as you don't look too young and you don't leave, if after hours and you leave out they may card you upon reentry. Out of the 7 nights we were in the club I got carded twice, and I'm over 25.

  4. There is a teen club on the ship as well as activities for your age group. Take a look at the website:www.royalcaribbean.com and you should be able to get some info.

  5. go out online to RCCL.com and review youth activities onboard, or call 1.800.327.6700 to ask your questions.  A customer service assistant for RCCL  will do their best to answer and they have always been very friendly to us.  Our family has 4 kids 8-17yrs old.  They have been so busy with the activities and new friends they make onboard, all the kids saw us at supper and then left for their own plans.  Activities can focus on pool parties, ship tours, fashion shows, scavenger hunt contests, pizza and movie parties, talent shows, teen night club dances, and more!  take your favorite music CDs, iPod, etc. and share the tunes.

2 of our kids still email the friends they made and plan to do a spring break cruise during the first year in college - and room together sharing expenses.
