  1. I know they definitely have internet. I used the internet from Freedom of the Seas last year for about 5 minutes and it cost about $5. I would say it is about $1 a minute.

  2. This Royal Caribbean web page gives the Internet access availability on all of their ships:

However, when I looked at the features of the Monarch I am not sure that there is an internet cafe because it does not show anywhere on the ship's deck plan.  That ship was built in about 1991, well before the big expansion of the internet everywhere.  SO if they do have access its probably in the business center or guest relations and not a large facility.

If this is critical for you then you may want to call RC:  1-800-562-7625, and ask.

I have been on many RC ships and its been my experience that the prices for internet service are exceedingly high and the connections are slow.  Consequently, we always just wait until we get to a port and find an internet cafe, generally in the price range of $5 to $6 a hour.  (access on ships is typically $50 to $60 an hour).   In many cases the internet is available right at or near the port.  Sometimes we have had to walk a couple blocks from the port to find it, but it was worth it.

  3. There's a computer center, so you don't need a laptop.  The price will vary depending on whether you buy a package, and if so how big.

I recall the base rate was 99c/minute, and it went down to 40c/minute if you buy like 200 minutes or so.

It's pretty expensive because the data is going over a satellite connection.  If you can wait until you get to port, there will be cheaper internet centers there.

  4. It's pricey and slow!  I think I paid .50 a minute.  And boy was it ever slow.  If you don't have to use it, don't!  We just cruised on this line 2 weeks ago.  It was a fun cruise, no complaints whatsoever.  In Ensenada, rent a fancy golf cart and drive around if you are adventurous, it is a BLAST!
