South Africa’s limited overs captain and a prolific player of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Bangalore is full of talented cricketers like Chris Gayle, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DP-Nannes-c1396 and De Villiers himself. They have been doing extremely well in the previous seasons, but failed to clinch any big event, including Indian Premier League
(IPL) or the CLT20.
The Royal Challengers were struggling at the start of the previous season before the former West Indian captain and one of the most explosive opening batsmen of the modern day cricket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221 joined them.
The Caribbean left-hander changed the fortunes of the Vijay Mallya’s team and emerged as the top run-getter of the tournament, even though he had played fewer matches in the tournament as compared to other batsmen.
De Villiers has also been an integral part of the Royal Challengers and played a number of match winning knocks. He is considered amongst the best limited overs batsmen in world cricket at the moment.
The right-handed middle-order batsman, who can also keep wickets when required, is of the opinion that all the players of Bangalore are in supreme form and will not be satisfied with anything less than a title win.
"We don't have a trophy yet. But we have the guys in form and I hope we can go all the way this time," said De Villiers.
De Villiers was made the captain of South Africa’s limited overs team after the side's ouster from the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011 in the quarter-final. He would be looking to gain some batting form during the CLT20 before the start of the next International
season.
Bangalore will take on the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 in their first match of the event tomorrow, at home, and will surely start as favourites. It remains to be seen whether the Royal Challengers can live up to the expectations.
