Royal Challengers Bangalore prevail in the 30th match of the Indian Premier League - Cricket News Roundup – Part 1 – April 24, 2012
On Monday, Royal Challengers Bangalore grabbed a clinical win against Rajasthan Royals in an IPL clash, which took place at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
After being put into bat, RCB amassed a massive tally of 189 runs, to leave Rajasthan flabbergasted.
The star performers from RCB were Tillakaratne Dilshan (76) and AB de Villiers (59) as they slaughtered the bowlers with zeal. The South African, de Villiers, was later named as the Player of the Match.
In the bowling department, it was left-arm pacer KP Appanna, who stood tall with his four wickets in the match in four overs.
From Rajasthan, skipper Rahul Dravid was the highest scorer from his side with 58 runs to his name as Rajasthan could bolster only 143 runs in 20 overs.
Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Rahul Dravid has admitted that his side failed to play their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore according to plan.
Speaking in the post-match ceremony, Dravid said, “Hopefully we will win the next games. When you give 80 runs in the last five, you can't expect to win. We did not execute our plans really well, especially death bowling. Have been timing the ball well, but will require to secure wins. Only wins excite me, not so much about my batting. Appanna bowled well, he spun the ball, which is great to see. It should be good for his confidence.”
Australian skipper Michael Clarke is counting on wicketkeeper Brad Haddin to make a comeback in the Test squad even after missing the ongoing Test series against host West Indies.
"In my opinion Brad will come back into the Test side when fully fit and available," Clarke said.
According to the Aussie skipper, Haddin is still the number-one wicketkeeper in Test cricket for Australia and his return to the team will be welcomed.
Darren Lehmann, the coach of Deccan Chargers is optimistic about the prospects of his team which is still winless in the ongoing IPL after playing five games.
Lehmann insisted that he was proud of his young side and the team was improving in every game which was an encouraging sign.
